POSITION DESCRIPTION:

A CMA is under the direct supervision of the charge nurse. The charge nurse will follow up with the CMA to ensure the med pass is completed timely and accurately to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS • Ability to communicate effectively in English through both speech and writing. • Previous patient care experience preferred. • Current certification for Medication Aide. CLINICAL • Participate in Shift Report. • Perform routine patient care in accordance with Federal, State, Company and Center nursing policies and procedures. Employs preventative and restorative measures. • Prepares and administers MED documents, the right medications to the right patient at the right time in the right dosage by the right route. • Ensures that clinical observations are made prior to and after medications as indicated. • Ensures that adequate nutritional and fluid intake is provided. Assist patient as needed. • Assists with meal service and feeding residents. • Assist in patient admission, discharge and transfer as instructed. • Complies with safety policies and procedures. • Uses equipment correctly and safely during the performance of direct patient care and medication preparation. • Follows hand washing techniques and other infection control guidelines during the performance of patient care.
