  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Evaluates and treats patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial deficits through collaborative, patient-centered care.

    _ Responsibilities:_

    • Assesses patients' ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills, engaging them in meaningful goal-setting and treatment planning. Designs and collaborates on appropriate plans of care, including type and frequency of treatment tailored to individual needs.
    • Implements treatment plans using evidence-based modalities while actively engaging patients in their therapeutic journey. Documents patient progress findings and collaboratively monitors and modifies plans of care as needed. Seeks consultation and engages with interdisciplinary team members as necessary.
    • Engages patients and their families/caregivers through education about patient deficits and recovery potential. Collaboratively plans and facilitates patient discharge from therapy services, actively involving patients in adaptive equipment selection and connecting them with appropriate support programs.
    • Provides clinical oversight and mentorship to certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians, fostering a collaborative care environment aligned with established regulations and practice standards.

    Qualifications

    _ Licensure / Certification / Registration:_

    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Rehab Therapist specializing in Occupational Therapy (OTR) credentialed from the Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

    _ Education/Experience:_

    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • Master's degree preferred.
    • Acute Care Experience preferred; however, willing to train the right new graduate candidate.

    Additional Information

    This acute care PRN position requires 2 weekend days per month and some Holidays. Work hours during the weekdays are welcomed but not required.

    This position is required to perform evaluations and treatments for occupational therapy for insurance authorizations, discharge recommendations, and assist with hospital throughput 7 days a week.
