    POSITION SUMMARY

     

    Join the movement in advancing ocean conservation forward – be part of a fast-paced team with their sights set on helping Ocean Conservancy communicate with the public. The Senior Content Strategist leads the development and improvement of digital content for the website and across our social channels. The position will test new content ideas for fundraising and programmatic goals, as well as refine tried and true methods in order to deepen our engagement with current supporters and expand the reach of ocean content to new audiences who care about ocean conservation.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • SOCIAL MEDIA: Manage and provide overall strategy to guide OC and leadership’s social media accounts. Tracks and reports monthly analytics and measures.
    • CONTENT STRATEGY: Provides leadership and direction for implementing SEO, content and digital outreach on a monthly basis. In coordination with the team and vendors – implement monthly content strategy for all OC web channels. Track analytics, liaison with vendors, trouble-shoot and lead in moving recommendations to action items.
    • WRITER: Create original content for the Ocean Conservancy website, fundraising appeals, advocacy alerts and blogs. Utilizes SEO best practices in writing for the web.
    • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Utilize Ocean Conservancy’s project management tools to lead various website projects. Review team capacity, delegate tasks, course-correct (as needed) and ensure the project is set up to succeed.

    REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

    • 4-6 years’ experience in digital engagement with advocacy, Congressional political campaigns or charitable organizations;
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience in project or people management with a strong track record of producing creative, successful output;
    • Proven success managing digital outreach and advocacy campaigns;
    • Knowledge of new media and analytics tools, such as Google Analytics;
    • Solid attention to details and how they fit into the big picture;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, familiarity with AP style;
    • Enthusiasm for the digital space;
    • Excellent writing and communications skills;
    • Steller project management skills and experience using project management software;
    • Strong understanding of online communication, industry best practices and accessibility standards;
    • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet tight deadlines and/or adapt to change;
    • Experience working within a content management system and databases, preferably Engaging Networks and WordPress.
