ABOUT OCEAN CONSERVANCY
For more than 40 years, Ocean Conservancy has been championing science-based policy solutions to protect the healthy and diverse ocean ecosystems that support our planet. Through its programs, Ocean Conservancy provides leadership on the protection of special places, restoration of sustainable fisheries, the reduction of human impacts on ocean ecosystems, and the need for comprehensive management of our nation’s ocean resources and ecosystems. Informed by science, Ocean Conservancy’s work guides policy and engages people in protecting the ocean and its wildlife for future generations.
Climate Policy Program
Ocean Conservancy envisions a healthy future for our ocean and the communities that rely on it, free from greenhouse gas pollution and resilient to the climate impacts we can no longer avoid. To help achieve this vision, we advocate for sustainable ocean-based climate solutions, work with all levels of government to implement these solutions and help build demand for climate action. Ocean Conservancy’s work in international policy circles has grown dramatically over the last few years including advancing ocean-climate action at the UNFCCC and supporting ocean-climate goals in other fora including the IMO, APEC and the SDGs. Our international climate work requires dedicated leadership focused on how to maximize the institution’s influence and impact within these arenas.
