JOB PURPOSEWorking closely with the analytics and account teams, the Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing data visualization for the organization. This individual will be expected to deliver unique business insights by packaging data in ways that will assist clients and internal teams in understanding complex analyses and data trends. The Business Intelligence Analyst will also support the data democratization movement for the agency identifying insights for specific audiences that will enable all levels of employees to leverage data for decision-making.A successful candidate will work collaboratively across departments to understand the business needs for data visualization and proactively make recommendations as to the best way to present data in an easily digestible format. The role will require a strong knowledge of BI tools, but also must be able to see connections and make meaning out of the data available. He/she will be solution oriented, self-start, work effectively independently and as part of a larger team, and be a strong communicator.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain and advance the capabilities of existing dashboards ensuring functionality and customization where necessarySpearhead data visualization projects focusing on analytics and media reportingExtract data from databases and manage all necessary transformation processes for data presentation, including data joins across multiple sourcesProactively seek opportunities to improve data quality and operational efficiencyCollaborate with the database administrator to create daily reports through SQL to track the efficiency and accuracy of automated systemsProvide thought leadership on BI tools and stay abreast on developing trends for data and analytics visualizationTranslate complex data and analysis into easily understood visualizationsDevelop visualizations and alerts that will identify emerging performance trends and issuesAnalyze, develop, and create reportsBe familiar with API usage and manipulation for automated data feedsFollows all company health and safety proceduresPerforms other related duties as required or assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEEDUCATIONBachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) required, Information Systems, Data Science, or Business Intelligence degree preferred. Advanced degree a plus.EXPERIENCE3-5 years related experience required.SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Advanced knowledge of concepts and practices with the ability to use in diverse business situationsThe Analyst will demonstrate:Extensive data management experience in analytic platforms and business intelligence tools, dashboards, and reports with specific expertise in SQLAdept usage of data visualization tools with expertise in TableauAbility and desire to learn new BI tools where advantageousEffectively communicate to all levels both within the company and with clientsProven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment meeting deadlines and prioritizing projects while retaining high-level of work qualityStrong organizational skills with the ability to deliver results independently under minimal direction or supervisionStrong analytical skills including ability to think critically, apply data analysis techniques to derive insights, identify outliers in large data sets, and think creatively to resolve problems and develop solutionsStatistical and predictive analytics experience a plusEEO/Minorities/Females/Disabled/Veterans
