The role you will play
Facilitates patient scheduling for all tests and visits.
Completes billing of all nursing procedures including any infusion therapy.
Prepares equipment and assists physicians during physical exams and medical procedures.
Assists in determining resources required to provide appropriate and indicated level of care and assures availability of indicated resources prior to acceptance of patient.
Provides overview of services to be provided during hospitalization to patients, families, payers and referral sources.
Triages patient phone inquiries according to physician and/or departmental protocols and documents such inquiries and results in patients' medical records.
Notifies payer of admission and expected course of treatment and assigns initial length of stay in accordance with standards of care criteria as outlined in utilization.
Tracks data regarding intakes and referral sources.
Provides guidelines and instruction to staff regarding program promotion, intake and referral processes.
Communicates information about patient referred to rehab unit to appropriate physician.
Demonstrates knowledge of central line, port, and IV management. Provides nursing care to the patient undergoing complex procedures such as bone marrow biopsies or intrathecal chemotherapy
The bone marrow transplant nurse will be responsible for administering high dose chemotherapy and stem cell infusions.
Accepts additional responsibilities and organizes scheduled and unscheduled time
Administers chemotherapy and blood products in the infusion area
Provides patient counseling based on specialized and/or advanced knowledge gained through education and experience.
Background
Associate’s degree (BSN preferred)
2 years nursing experience, oncology experience preferred
