ODYSSEY CHARTER SCHOOL, IS SEEKING QUALIFIED CANDIDATES TO JOIN OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAM IN FY22-23 SCHOOL YEAR!
Nestled in the San Gabriel Mountain foothills in Altadena, CA Odyssey serves 450 students in grades K-8. Forming the foundation of our progressive teaching philosophy is that children learn best by doing. Therefore, we strive to provide a “hands-on” learning environment to all our students. Odyssey’s middle school provides 100 7th & 8th grade students an intimate and engaging educational experience which is academically focused, tolerant of different learning styles and based on cooperative models of learning between students and between students and teachers.
TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, implement and instruct developmentally appropriate activities to promote overall academic and emotional growth of students, which reflects the school’s vision, mission and charter
Assess and monitor student learning, achievement and performance
Modify teaching practices as needed per classroom assessments and individual needs
Utilize the CA Common Core State Standards and school resources to develop classroom curriculum
Meet with parents and students to construct Individualized Learning Plans
Ensure all student needs are being met and if needed meet with the Inclusion Specialist, and Director for additional support
Continuously seek support from colleagues
Facilitate an advisory group and teach a small group elective course
Engage in meaningful professional development activities on a weekly basis
Communicate with parents on an ongoing basis
Plan and participate in OCS Community events and activities
Meet all deadlines given by Director
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Current California Single Subject Mathematics Teaching Credential required
Teaching experience in a constructivist, multiage learning environment serving diverse student populations with a variety of learning styles and abilities or related education
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
Ability to use discretion and good judgment when dealing with confidential and sensitive information
Understanding of technology and effective ways of integrating technology into learning and teaching
Team player!
Graduate degree or National Board Certification highly desired
Must have current certification in CPR and First Aid
COMPENSATION
OUR COMPENSATION PACKAGE INCLUDES COMPETITIVE SALARY BASED ON APPLICABLE EXPERIENCE AND GENEROUS HEALTHCARE AND RETIREMENT BENEFITS. POSITION WOULD START IN AUGUST 2022.
