Odyssey Technical Solutions has an immediate opening for an experienced Software/Embedded Engineer in Round Rock, TX.

This position supports Odyssey’s core business of repairing critical power delivery systems. Applications for this equipment vary but are typically used to generate and sustain Plasma loads for Film Deposition, Etching, and Coatings in various industries, including Semiconductor Processing, Medical Imaging, Industrial Coatings, and Photovoltaic panels.

This Software Engineer (SW) will be a critical part of an Engineering Team. The position will work with an exciting range of assignments, including; problem-solving, reverse engineering of existing devices, protocols and interfaces, and support of existing software. The SW engineering position is a fast-paced, active, hands-on position with a highly skilled and motivated team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A desirable candidate will have a BSEE or MSEE degree.
• Must have five years or more of professional and relevant experience in software and hardware development, as noted in these qualifications (time in school does not count for this requirement).
• Must have practical experience in all aspects of software development using C, C++, C#, Python, kernel debuggers, system dumps, and assembly language.
• Experience with IDA and other disassemblers for reverse engineering.
• Knowledge of microprocessor and DSP architectures, such as 80186,  dsp53600, TI TMS320, ColdFire Able to read and understand assembly language for PC and various microprocessor and DSP architectures.
• Familiar with hex editors and the like.
• The candidate must have experience with Visual Studio and Atmel Studio.
•  A proven track record of writing, modifying, and debugging software for embedded devices, including security protocols.
• Must have experience in digital hardware design.
• Must have experience developing validation testing and documenting software.
• Must have a working knowledge of SPI, USB, RS232, and IEEE488.
• The candidate will know problem-solving skills such as Ishikawa diagrams and 5 Whys techniques.
• Good communication across functional teams.
•  Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Candidate must possess a strong work ethic and maintain a positive attitude while working under deadlines.
