Our client, an e-commerce company in the education supplies sector, is seeking a resourceful Off Brand Product Buyer with experience in Amazon FBA product research, profitability analysis, and overseas sourcing.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying profitable, in-demand school and teacher products to expand the company’s current catalog, conducting market research on Amazon, and collaborating with manufacturers in China to bring new products to life efficiently and cost-effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth Amazon market research to identify high-potential school and teacher products based on trends, competition, and customer needs.
- Analyze product profitability, including landed cost calculations, competitive pricing, and FBA fees, to ensure financial viability before sourcing.
- Communicate directly with Chinese manufacturers via platforms like Alibaba or sourcing agents to negotiate pricing, MOQ, samples, and lead times.
- Oversee the sampling and product evaluation process to ensure quality, safety standards, and customer appeal are met.
- Track competitor listings, reviews, and market shifts to identify gaps and opportunities for product differentiation.
- Collaborate with the design and marketing teams to ensure packaging, branding, and product features align with market expectations.
- Maintain detailed records of sourcing communications, quotes, and project timelines for internal review and decision-making.
- Work cross-functionally with operations and logistics to ensure timely delivery and successful Amazon listing execution.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Amazon FBA product development, specifically within physical consumer goods categories.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data from tools like Helium 10, Jungle Scout, or Keepa for product research and decision-making.
- Proven experience sourcing from Chinese manufacturers, including effective negotiation and cross-border communication.
- Familiarity with calculating landed cost, profit margins, and navigating Amazon FBA fee structures.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills to juggle multiple sourcing projects and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively coordinate with overseas suppliers and internal teams.
- Knowledge of Amazon compliance standards and requirements for educational or child-related products is a plus.
- Self-starter mindset with a proactive approach to finding solutions, managing timelines, and driving results independently.
