    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Production Crew Member is a temporary, part-time position, which drives the on-site production of seasonal Off the Grid Markets events, as well as our designed, private events throughout the Bay Area.   As a Production team member, this position executes the setup and breakdown of event equipment all while maintaining OTG's quality standards. This role indirectly reports to the on-site lead producer and directly reports into the Markets Event Manager. 

    The ideal candidate has experience related to live event production (or a keen desire to learn and develop in the field), event operations, corporate event production or audio production. Familiarity with event equipment, specifically electrical equipment is highly desired. You must excel at collaborating with multiple, onsite teams to successfully complete set up and breakdown of events.  

    This is a very physical job, which is exposed to and occurs in outside weather conditions. You enjoy working outdoors and have a strong ability to safely execute assigned tasks. You’re excited to learn to use forklifts, specialized tools and more, and you can’t wait to be a part of the mobile food movement! 

    DESIRED AVAILABILITY: Our busiest months are MARCH - MID-NOVEMBER, though we have hours asap and throughout the year. Hours can vary from late nights to early mornings and will occur on weekends based on event schedules. _Preferred hires will have the availability stated below: _

    • 15-25 Hours/Week

    • Open Availability all day on Fridays (9am - 4pm, 9pm-4am) availability preferred

    • Some Availability on Tuesdays - Thursdays to assist with pack

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: 

      • Deliver exceptional customer service to client when setting up, taking down, and cautiously loading and caring for company and customer property
    • Collaborating with the onsite onsite production crew

    • Keep equipment organized and handled with proper care in the warehouse and onsite.

    • Accurately pick, pull, load, and unload equipment and tools at warehouse with proper safety techniques.

    • Work as a team to adjust event setup to needs of the event and/or the client as they arise

    • Execute the transportation and logistics of moving vehicle(s) and equipment from warehouse to event site and back 

    • Opportunities to operate box trucks up to 26 feet and other company vehicles like forklifts and pallet jacks will be provided pending a clear background check/clear driving record and in house training

    • Follow all established safety and handling guidelines.

    • Practice excellent judgment and time management.

    • Represent OTG with pride and professionalism.

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

    YEARS OF RELATED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 0-1 year. Experience with live event production desired but not necessary.

    LANGUAGES: English

    PREFERRED BACKGROUND: Event production, stage lighting, sound/audio system setup for live events, packing/loading/Unloading equipment, operating box trucks and/or other heavy equipment. 

    TRAVEL REQUIRED: We produce events throughout the Bay Area, so access to a reliable form of transportation is preferred. 

    SKILLS: 

    • Experience with hand/power tools (pipe wrench, c-clamps, drills, etc), running / wrapping power cables of varying gauges in an orderly fashion, troubleshooting onsite power distribution.

    • Basic knowledge of mobile equipment (road cases, pallet jacks, hand carts)

    • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment and be attentive of the workspace.

    • Must maintain an open dialogue when unsure how to complete a task.

    SHIFT TIMES/AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS: 

    • This part-time, temporary position will have a regular weekly schedule, based on employee availability. Crew Members will be scheduled for either a set-up OR tear-down shift for an event. Schedules can be subject to change based on business needs.

    • Ability to work long hours and shifts

    • Busy months of the year are from March to Mid-November. Our weekly events called “Markets” run on this schedule on Fridays and Sundays. Fridays are preferred open availability (day shift from 9 am - 4 PM/night shift from 9pm-4am). 

    • Gear preparation and maintenance for “Markets” occurs weekdays and weekends in the warehouse during regular business hours. 

    • Private events may happen any day/time of the week.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

    The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. This job occasionally occurs inside, frequently occurs outside, and is subject to outside environmental conditions.

    While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen attentively. The employee is frequently required to climb; balance; stoop, crouch; sit; stand; walk; substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and legs; use hands, handle or feel; and reach, push, pull with hands and arms. In addition this position frequently pushes/picks up/carries equipment up to 25 pounds, and moves/lifts equipment up to 50 pounds throughout the day and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance from team members.
