Position Title: Office Engineer I
Location: Los Angeles World Airports: Los Angeles, CA - Candidate must be willing and able to commute to Los Angeles LAWA office and make site visits as necessary.

The TBIT Refresh Office Engineer reports to the TBIT Refresh Project Manager and is responsible for assisting the TBIT Refresh Project Manager with managing the scope, schedule and operational interfaces of all design and construction-related activities for TDIP’s Terminal Refresh project. The Terminal Refresh project covers the TBIT departures and arrivals halls. It is intended to address outdated finishes and passenger processing functions in areas of the airport that have not had major renovations over the past 10 years. The renewal of certain mechanical, electrical and plumbing assets will also be included in the project. The characteristics of the candidate shall display a solid understanding and experience of interior renovation projects within an active operating environment (aviation, transportation, retail, manufacturing, etc.). The ability to lead a collaboration of stakeholders, designers and contractors will be critical to the program’s success.
Position Description Summary
The TBIT Refresh Office Engineer provides a broad spectrum of technical and administrative duties primarily associated with submittal and Request for Information (RFI) management as well as construction management support. Supports the project management team (project manager, assistant PM, construction manager, design manager, etc.).

Technical/Construction background with experience in an operating/active environment
Knowledge in design and construction contracting practices and methodologies
Knowledge and experience in the project design life cycle from Concept to Project Definition Book to Permit to Bulletins
Knowledge and experience in the project construction life cycle from Pre-Construction to estimating/buyout to phasing to implementation to Closeout
Maintaining an excellent working relationship with the design and construction professionals geared towards open communications and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project and all other parties involved
Contributing to a high level of team morale through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders and LAWA/internal stakeholders
Essential Job Duties
Assist the TDIP Refresh project team in the receipt, distribution and maintenance of submittals.
Perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control function, input data into Prolog, and prepare management information status report, as required.
Update and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs in Prolog, the project information system.
Maintain project files and document / submittal management systems (hard and electronic copies). Work with the TBIT Refresh Contractor(s) to ensure the drawings are posted efficiently and in a timely manner. Distribute documents, submittals and RFIs for review; track and compile responses/review comments, obtain management approval and issue responses to TBIT Refresh Contractor(s).
Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings.
Complete other responsibilities and assist as assigned to support the project such as: attend and document project meetings (write agendas and minutes), perform expediting functions, and prepare and maintain an expediting log; etc.
Hardware/Software Knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
Ability to work in CAD or REVIT preferred
Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications
5 years or more experience, preferably on airport projects
Experience with projects more than $50 million in value.
Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR and Design/Build
Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other related field required
Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, etc. or any other relevant professional license or certifications.

This is NOT a work from home position
This is a salaried position based on 40 hours per week at the applicable all-in labor rate.
This is a Monday-Friday full-time position in the office or on the project site at LAX
After hours or weekend work may be required to perform the duties of the position. This shall be considered part of the salary

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $94,000.
