We are seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Office Engineer to provide crucial construction management support for our capital projects located at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This is a chance to be part of the historic changes transforming LAX in preparation for the upcoming Olympics. This demanding role is focused on the critical administrative and technical coordination required to successfully execute these vital projects in an active, operational airport environment.

    Summary

    The Office Engineer provides a broad spectrum of essential technical and administrative duties that are fundamental to project execution. The primary focus of this position is the effective management of the Submittal and Request for Information (RFI) processes and providing comprehensive construction management support to the extended project team (Project Manager, Assistant PM, Construction Manager, Design Manager, etc.). This role requires strong attention to detail, proactive communication, and expertise in coordinating project documentation across multiple stakeholders.

    Key Identifiers for the Position

    Technical/Construction Background with significant experience in an operating/active environment (preferably airport projects).

    Thorough Knowledge in design and construction contracting practices and methodologies.

    Familiarity with the entire project design life cycle, from Concept to Project Definition Book to Permit to Bulletins.

    Familiarity with the entire project construction life cycle, from Pre-Construction to estimating/buyout to phasing to implementation to Closeout.

    Ability to maintain an excellent working relationship with design and construction professionals, geared towards open communications and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project.

    Professionalism that contributes to high team morale and reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders, and LAWA/internal stakeholders.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities

    The Office Engineer will be the central point for project documentation and administrative functions:

    Submittal & RFI Management:

    Assist the project team in the receipt, distribution, and maintenance of all submittals.

    Update and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs in PM Web (the project information system).

    Distribute documents, submittals, and RFIs for review; track and compile responses/review comments, obtain management approval, and issue responses to Contractor(s).

    Document Control:

    Perform construction contract correspondence, document, and plan control functions.

    Maintain project files and document / submittal management systems (hard and electronic copies).

    Work with the Contractor(s) to ensure drawings are posted efficiently and in a timely manner.

    Reporting & Administrative Support:

    Input required data into PM Web and prepare management information status reports.

    Complete other responsibilities as assigned, including attending and documenting project meetings (writing agendas and minutes).

    Perform expediting functions and prepare and maintain an expediting log.

    Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, airport administration, or other related field.

    Five years or more experience, preferably on airport projects or environments.

    Experience supporting Multiple Award Task Order Contracts.

    Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.

    Hardware/Software Knowledge

    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam. Experience with Project Management Implementation Systems; ability to work in PM Web preferred.

    Optional Certifications

    Certifications such as AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, or any other relevant professional license or certifications are beneficial.

    This is a Monday-Friday full-time position in the office or on the project site at LAX. After hours or weekend work may be required to perform the duties of the position.
