The CTA Curbside Improvement Program reports to CTA Curbside Improvement Project Manager and is responsible for assisting the CTA Curbside Improvement Project Manager with managing the scope, schedule and operational interfaces of all design and construction-related activities for the CTA Curbside Improvement Program.
The CTA Curbside Improvement Program focuses on the Arrivals curbside area around the entire CTA, from entry doors of the terminals out to the outer island pick up zone. The scope of the project encompasses a comprehensive range of improvements from curbside out to the garage facades and the landscape zones in between. It is intended to enhance the look and feel of LAX and reflect a modern, safe, and iconic vision of our airport. These combined efforts aim to elevate the overall passenger and visitor experience while adhering to stringent safety, security, and sustainability standards.
Position Description Summary
The CTA Curbside Improvement Program Office Engineer provides a broad spectrum of technical and administrative duties primarily associated with submittal and Request for Information (RFI) management as well as construction management support. Supports the project management team (project manager, assistant PM, construction manager, design manager, etc.).

Technical/Construction background with experience in an operating/active environment
Knowledge in design and construction contracting practices and methodologies
Knowledge and experience in the project design life cycle from Concept to Project Definition Book to Permit to Bulletins
Knowledge and experience in the project construction life cycle from Pre-Construction to estimating/buyout to phasing to implementation to Closeout
Maintaining an excellent working relationship with the design and construction professionals geared towards open communications and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project and all other parties involved
Contributing to a high level of team morale through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders and LAWA/internal stakeholders
Essential Job Duties
Assist the CTA Curbside Improvement Program in the receipt, distribution and maintenance of submittals. Perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control function, input data into PM Web, and prepare management information status report, as required.
Update and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs in PM Web, the project information system.
Maintain project files and document / submittal management systems (hard and electronic copies). Work with the Contractor(s) to ensure the drawings are posted efficiently and in a timely manner. Distribute documents, submittals and RFIs for review; track and compile responses/review comments, obtain management approval and issue responses to Contractor(s).
Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings.
Complete other responsibilities and assist as assigned to support the project such as: attend and document project meetings (write agendas and minutes), perform expediting functions, and prepare and maintain an expediting log; etc.
Hardware/Software Knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
Ability to work in PM Web preferred
Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications
5 years or more experience, preferably on airport projects
Experience with projects more than $50 million in value.
Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR and Design/Build
Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other related field required
