Unpaid Legal Intern-Fall 2019
Job Description
Intern will assist with a variety of projects, which may include one or more of the following: researching county laws and regulations; identifying relevant fields for analysis, and building data dictionaries; analyzing operational and financial data; researching and documenting operational processes within the office and other county departments; developing work product to present data and analysis; and preparing data to release to the public.
Interns will report to the Chief Counsel and the Counsel to the Comptroller, who will supervise and provide an educational component to assigned tasks.
Qualifications
Applicants should have strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills with strong oral and written communications skills and very strong attention to detail.
PROSPECTIVE INTERNS SHOULD BE ENROLLED IN LAW SCHOOL WITH AN INTEREST IN PUBLIC SERVICE. Priority will be given to those who have taken a course in or have experience in legislative drafting, administrative law, or any kind of statutory interpretation. Experience or courses in finance or accounting is preferred.
