Caring for Kids is seeking to hire a contracted Adoption Assessor for the southern/central Ohio region!

An Adoption Assessor writes home study assessments and completes post placement supervision for families adopting newborn infants (through our domestic infant adoption program), as well as potentially for families adopting children through the foster care system as a part of our public adoption program. Contracted assessors will also complete homestudy updates, amendments, and attend finalization hearings for adoptions per Ohio Rule. The Assessor writes a home study based on family paperwork and personal home visits and interviews. After a placement occurs, this same social worker would be asked to complete post placement supervision with the family; this typically includes 6-8 home visits and reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.

Completion of State of Ohio Tier 1 and Tier 2 Adoption Assessor Training (if not current, must obtain within 6 months of hire)

Valid driver’s license and car insurance as well as a reliable vehicle with valid registration SACWIS experience is preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of community services

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work with clients of various demographic, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds with sensitivity and understanding

Sensitivity to adoption and birth mother specific issues

Pay is a contractual rate per service provided.
