    Old Redford Academy is hiring an **** Elective Teacher to teach African American History. Must have a Michigan Teacher Certification with endorsement in Social Studies (RX). Position is immediate.

    We are looking to hire an African American History Teacher The history teacher’s responsibilities include preparing lessons and curricula, teaching students to analyze different texts, and providing academic support.

    Old Redford Academy has new leadership, new direction and a new commitment to academic excellence.     Responsibilities: __

    • Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students and classes.

    • Delivering engaging History lessons on African American History, movements, and other historical events and figures.

    • Knowledge of current events/movements and using these themes to keep historical content relevant.

    • Grading tests, assignments, exams, and other assessments, and communicating with parents, students, teachers, and counselors regarding underperformance and other concerns.

    • Assessing student needs and providing support or extra resources to struggling students as well as exceptional achievers.

    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

    • Ensuring all curriculum, school, and state requirements are met.

    • Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities as required.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in teaching or relevant field.

    • Michigan Teaching Certification with Social Studies (RX) endorsement.

    • In-depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures.

    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

    • Well-organized with excellent leadership abilities.

    • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.
