Olsson, we provide expertise in the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, and other federal environmental regulations, allowing our clients to develop projects that not only meet their needs but also consider environmental resources in their designs.

    As an Associate Scientist, you will:

    • Take the lead on managing small-scale projects, ensuring they adhere to timelines and budget constraints.
    • Undertake on-site field work such as wetland delineations, habitat surveys, and bird surveys, demonstrating a hands-on approach to environmental work and a personal commitment to data integrity.
    • Author clear and concise technical reports, providing clients with in-depth insights into environmental assessments and compliance measures.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in articulating complex scientific findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Travel overnight and out of state to complete fieldwork and other site visits.

    • Strong communication skills.

    • Ability to proactively communicate both verbally and written.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Wildlife Biology, Avian Ecology, Environmental Resources, or a similar area of study.
    • 3+ years of experience of scientific/biology experience.
    • Experience planning and conducting environmental investigations and field surveys.
    • Availability to travel out-of-state for field work.
    • A valid driver’s license and good driving history.
    • Willingness to work a nontraditional work schedule.
    • Experience with wetland plants, soils, hydrology, and/or avian identification skills.
    • Experience with data collection utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/Geographic Position Systems (GPS), a plus.
    • The ability to work outdoors in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
