    Job Description

    Olsson’s rail traffic experts provide clients with a single resource for services such as traffic signal preemption design, grade crossing safety design, traffic operations studies, and other related services. As a Transportation Engineering Intern on the Rail Traffic and Public Projects team, you will perform meaningful, hands-on, real-world work that will transform your classroom experience and help you envision your future career. You’ll be part of a team, working for our clients on projects with our most experienced engineers. You may be involved in a variety of tasks including basic project design through CAD drafting, performing research, and writing technical reports. You may also travel to job sites for observation as needed. Other tasks you may be involved in include assisting with traffic and preemption analysis/design, performing site visits, assisting with plan or study preparation, and working closely with others on complex projects.

    • Strong communication skills.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
    • Working Knowledge in Synchro is a plus.
    • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Pursuing a degree in civil engineering.

    As a Student Intern with Olsson, you’ll receive flexible hours and paid holidays.

    Typical hourly range for this position is $24-26.75+, and is commensurate with experience relative to the position.
