    Job Description

    Olsson Studio delivers a boutique creative design experience to our clients and our people, backed by the expertise and resources of our whole company.

    As an Associate Community/Urban Planner within our Plano Studio, you will assist with the development, preparation, and administration of plans in the areas of comprehensive planning, current planning, housing and neighborhood development, economic development, sustainability, historic preservation, transportation, and urban design.

    Additional Responsibilities include:

    • Performs nonroutine assignments of moderate variety and complexity under close supervision.
    • Applies applicable state, county, and local codes, ordinances, and regulations.
    • May be responsible for quality control of work products.
    • Prepares and conducts client presentations for small groups.
    • Knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of planning.
    • Meets a client’s needs from project conception to completion, which may involve financial, legal, environmental, social, commercial, and political issues.
    • Performs project management duties for small projects.
    • May assist with developing project scope and schedule.
    • Tracks project budget.
    • Assists other project team members in the performance of their duties.
    • Maintains good client/public relationships.
    • Creates and maintains project and client information in Olsson’s platform system, Deltek.

    YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to contribute and work well on a team 
    • Strong project management skills
    • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, architecture, public policy, or a related area of study.
    • May be a certified planner (AICP).
    • A minimum of three years of experience in planning or a closely related field.
    • Passion for continued learning and expertise development
