  • Responsibilities

    Olympia Food Industries, a manufacturer of Greek & Mediterranean foods, is seeking an experienced Mechanic to join the team! This shift starts at 6:00am & generally runs 10 hours, regularly from Monday to Friday, with a 1-hour break. The starting pay will be dependent on applicant’s knowledge, experience, resume & reference. There is a signing bonus & raises may be available annually after a positive performance review.

    Summary

    This role would support the maintenance department in various department activities including maintaining, repairing, building, & preforming preventative maintenance on in & around an industrial grade facility.

    ** Qualifications**

    • High School Diploma, GED, or better
    • Able to work overtime and irregular hours when necessary.
    • Electrical control skills.
    • Hydraulics skills desired.
    • Pneumatics skills desired.
    • Welding skills desired.
    • Fabrication skills desired.
    • Arithmetic & Numbers knowledge & understanding.
    • Computer knowledge & experience.
    • Knowledge & experience with a forklift & scissor lift.
    • Able to lift 80 pounds unassisted.
    • Must be organized.
    • Able to see clearly, both near & far, with or without the assistance of glasses.
    • Able to use hands and fingers to use and feel objects, tools, controls, and product.
    • Able to reach with hands and arms.
    • Able to comfortably balance, climb, crouch, pull, and push.
    • Able to stand for long periods of time.
    • Clear oral & legible written communication skills in English strongly required.
    • Appropriate interpersonal interactions to work effectively & efficiently with co-workers to meet mutual goals.
    • Adaptive to disruptive circumstances regarding either productivity or personnel.
    • Able to maintain a positive work environment.

    ** Responsibilities**

    • Directly support activities of the department & productivity.
    • Support crew & operations of other departments.
    • Report any unsafe or hazardous work conditions.
    • Report any unsafe or malicious behavior.
    • Preform Lockout & Tagout as required.
    • Preform other duties as assigned.
    • Maintain a high level of awareness regarding product & personnel safety & sanitation.
    • Maintain a clean and clear work area.
    • Ensure food safety & sanitation conditions, guidelines & practices are always being met by all crew members.
    • Ensure reliable record keeping.
    • Follow & educate in Olympia Food’s GMPs, rules, & regulations
    • Follow & Educate HACCP & SQF guidelines.
    • Complete all paperwork & forms in a punctual & timely manner.

    ** Work Environment**

    • There are variable temperatures throughout the facility ranging from -10°F to 40°F.
    • This job is physical. Crew members need to frequently bend, lift, push, pull, walk, grasp, & reach for items.
    • Rolls involve extensive standing and stationary work, climbing stairs & ladders, lifting, & squatting.
    • Crew members work near moving mechanical parts.
    • This job is performed in a generally clean environment.
    • Because we are a food processing facility, with the exceptions of glasses, firmly secure wedding bands, & double clasp medical bracelets, all jewelry and mobile phones are strictly prohibited in every work area. Per industry regulations, Olympia cannot hire anyone with exposed graphed jewelry or exposed permanent piercings.
    • This position requires safety awareness of manufacturing & industrial sites. Protective gear will be required where appropriate.
