**Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa, Inc., in conjunction with Mt. Diablo Adult Education, administers the Healthcare Career Pathway program that addresses the critical shortage of healthcare workers. The goal is to help graduates with the necessary certifications become a caregiver in the community. This position is part of the Healthcare Career Pathway program and the chosen candidate will be an employee of Mt. Diablo Adult Education.

Mt. Diablo Adult Education’s (MDAE) Career Technical Education Center (CTEC) is seeking a Part-Time Program Director for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program at our Concord campus. No holidays or weekends required! Salary range starts at $31.08/hour. Position starts as soon as filled. This position may be held in concert with the Program Instructor position to create a full-time role.

The CNA Program at MDAE is part of a larger public-private partnership helping motivated job-seekers enter healthcare careers with comprehensive educational programming and wrap-around support services designed to meet the needs of students with addressable barriers. The Healthcare Career Pathway (HCP) is a partnership deeply rooted in the principles of Restorative Justice and Person Centered Care and seeks to change the culture of care in long-term care facilities and build a pathway to a sustainable income for students who would not be successful in a traditional program. The HCP program seeks to develop new and innovative training techniques and draws together a diverse group of partner agencies: MDAE providing the comprehensive training program to meet the needs of employers and students; Opportunity Junction providing wrap-around support services needed to complete training; Ombudsman Services bringing an emphasis on quality, compassionate, patient-centered care to the programs; and NorCal Care Homes providing industry input into curriculum design and employer needs.

The HCP provides a way for students who would otherwise be unable to enter the healthcare workforce to do so: trainees are provided access to a full spectrum of psycho-social supports that enable them to complete training. This includes meals provided on site daily as well as access to food pantries, behavioral and health care services, child care, family violence services, and transportation and housing assistance. In addition to job training required for certification, participants learn other critical skills and supports such as interview skills and job placement assistance. This position is part of a collaborative team that seeks to help the student master clinical skills and develop a solid foundation of “soft” skills that will allow them to navigate the workplace and achieve their goals.

Working with the Healthcare Career Pathway leadership team, this position will provide the leadership and drive required to support and enhance the mission of the CNA Program as part of a broader pathway program.
