    Organizational Overview: Empowered Aging is a regional nonprofit serving seniors and families in Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano counties. Empowered Aging is dedicated to ensuring dignity and quality of life for older adults through a variety of community based and congregate living programs. Current programs include; Long-Term Care Ombudsman, Friendly Visiting/Telephone Reassurance, Elder Abuse, Healthcare Career Pathway, Elder Justice Lunch and Learn. Empowered Aging was founded in 1991 and as a long history of advocating and protecting the rights of older and adults with disabilities. After nearly six years of dramatic growth, expanding to serve three counties and deliver multiple programs, Empowered Aging is seeking an innovative and forward-thinking leader to oversee its programming and staff.

    Mission: Empowered Aging empowers individuals and their families as they navigate the aging continuum, through person centered advocacy, education and collaborative leadership.

    Position Overview: Under the direction of, and in concert with, the Executive Director, the Director of Programs oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of Empowered Aging programs, including planning, organizing, staffing and leading program activities, as well as tracking data and outcomes and overseeing evaluation efforts. This position requires significant prior experience working in aging services, knowledge and experience base should include the network of aging services, state and federal regulations, impacts of aging, including dementia, as well as Title 22 and the related licensing and regulatory structure.

    Responsibilities

    Program Oversight and Evaluation

    Plan the delivery of the overall program and activities in accordance with Empowered Aging mission and goals

    In cooperation with the Executive Director, develop new program initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization

    Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful program outcomes

    Develop a program evaluation framework, including data tracking protocols, to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement

    Collaborate with fundraising and finance consultants and staff to ensure grants and other materials align with program goals and outcomes and reporting requirements

    In consultation with the Executive Director, recruit, interview and select well-qualified program staff

    Ensure that the program operates within the approved budget and requirements; develops and implements cost saving measures; contributes to profits and revenue; conserves organizational resources

    Complete required reports for government funders. Host monitoring visits

    Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events

    Meets productivity standards; completes work in timely manner; strives to increase productivity; works quickly

    Leadership

    Develop and implement strategies that will maximize the synergies among program areas

    Serve as a member of the organizational leadership team

    Provide reports to the board of directors as requested

    Develops workable implementation plans; communicates changes effectively; builds commitment and overcomes resistance; prepares and supports those affected by change; monitors transition and evaluates results.

    Team Management and Development

    Work with staff to develop performance measurements across all programs to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for all employees.

    Directly supervise program management staff and indirectly supervise their subordinates. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Essential Competencies

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, G Suite and data tracking systems

    Valid California Driver’s license, current insurance and ability to be insured by Empowered Aging insurance. Ability to drive personal car for work related purposes (mileage will be reimbursed at the standard Federal rate)

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, percent change over time, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    Experience and Education

    At least five years of nonprofit program delivery in management and leadership roles

    Minimum of a BA/BS

    Significant knowledge and understanding of the network of aging services, federal and state regulations related to elder care services and funding

    Compensation: $90,000 - $105,000

    Insurance - Health, vision, dental, acupuncture and chiropractic

    Reports To: Executive Director

    Schedule: This is a salary exempt position requiring significant time and attention. Expected work hours are at least M-F 8am-5pm
