    Product Development Intern Omega, Inc. 50 reviews - Sunbury, OH Full-time, Internship Job Title: Product Development Intern Department: Office (#850) Division: 3000 Marketing Reports To: Team Lead Product Management FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary: The Product Development Intern is responsible for assisting the Product Manager in developing and executing product-oriented plans that fit the company's selling tactics, distribution channels, strategy, and financial goals, directly responsible for managing tactical execution details on assigned product categories or product introductions. This position ensures timely execution of product specific plans and effectively communicates critical information. This position will supply market, product, financial and end user data analysis to drive business decisions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Key areas of responsibilities are organizing and tracking project details, market research and special projects supporting product development strategies. * Collect market Information for assigned product categories through different VOC paths as defined by Product Manager, including functionality, pricing, packaging, merchandising, use and application. * Provide new product development updates at regular product development review meetings. * Ability to work with cross functional teams- e.g. sourcing, sales, purchasing and engineering. * Help develop training content; train sales teams * Product webpage maintenance, including spec sheet/manual maintenance. * Support new product development process. * Support obsolesce process. * Provides product-related assistance to other areas of the company as needed. * Assist with the new product process including market research and product strategy * Conduct market research supporting the product development process. Help ensure products meet key criteria and competitive benchmarks. Assist with market and competitive analysis to identify market opportunities. * Help communicate and coordinate between departments to usher projects through the developmental process, launch phase, and early lifecycle. * Take ownership of and manage special projects related to product development process. * Work with business units in developing business plans to achieve company revenue goals. * Analyze competitive marketplace and industry trends to accordingly develop business strategies for revenue generation. * Establish pricing strategies and guidelines for new product development. * Obtain customer feedback and suggest appropriate product revisions. * Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams in product development activities. * Recommend product enhancements and updates to identify new business opportunities. * Support marketing team in developing sales and marketing strategies for profitability. * Conduct product and sales trainings to marketing team. * Provide support for marketing collaterals, advertising materials, marketing campaigns, tradeshows and other promotional activities. * Coordinate with cross-functional teams to provide product engineering, development, management and sales solutions. * Address customer issues and concerns in a timely fashion to ensure customer satisfaction. * Work with business team to identify new customers and to retain existing customers. * Stay up-to-date with product knowledge, business flow, sales process and market dynamic. * Maintain complete documentations for all product related activities. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities: * Knowledge of Microsoft Office/Office 365. * Use of ERP systems is plus. * Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects. * Some travel may be required (domestic and international). * Must have a sense of urgency and be deadline-oriented. * Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal company personnel. * Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively. * Experience with web-based market research to gather and compare market data. * Experience coordinating projects, organizing details and communicating updates. * Experience with product development process, project management or market research a plus. * Critical thinking and problem solving, organized, self-starter and reliable with good follow-through.
