    CAPEX PROJECT ENGINEER - FOOD / PHARMA - CHEMICAL / MECHANICAL ENGINEER

    QUICK OVERVIEW: This is a Full-Time 12+ Month assignment (starting ASAP) for a CAPEX PROJECT ENGINEER / PROJECT MANAGER (CHEMICAL OR MECHANICAL ENGINEER) to work onsite at an industrial process manufacturing plant in the Warren County, NJ area. Preferred experience is SMALL TO MEDIUM CAPEX (Capital Expenditures) PROJECT MANAGEMENT in the FOOD INDUSTRY or PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY . Also preferred is experience with with DRY POWDERS and their handling (MILLING, EXTRUDING, DRYING, SIFTING, DENSE PHASE CONVEYING, ETC.)   PAY RATE: Tailored to candidate's qualifications and experience FULL SUITE OF BENEFITS OPTIONS:

    1. PROJECT ENGINEER OVERVIEW
      1. BASIC ENGINEERING SERVICES

        1. Development and execution of Basic Engineering deliverables containing process flowcharts, equipment specifications, control diagrams, general distribution diagrams, cost estimates, functional diagrams, functional documentation, and commissioning plans.
      2. DETAILED ENGINEERING SERVICES

        1. Study development and detailed engineering execution for relevant project aspects containing diagrams, electrical, mechanical, civil, structural detail drawings, and construction specifications.
      3. ENGINEERING TRANSFER TO CONSTRUCTION

        1. Constructability verification in the project: assess the feasibility of building / assembling projects, before starting any construction services.
        2. Monitoring of bidders in the service quotation phase, to show the scope, local conditions, interferences, etc....
        3. Descoping of technical proposals for construction and assembly with the issuance of a technical opinion.
        4. Revise and Issuance of the Engineering Information (EI) content list to builders / assemblers ensuring they have all the up-to-date information necessary to their scope of work.
      4. EXECUTION PLANNING

        1. Consolidation of the execution schedule for each phase of the work.
        2. Ability to show and highlight the project’s critical path.
        3. Collaboration with the stakeholders on the project execution schedule to follow up on the work in progress.
        4. Analyze and identify schedule interference with other construction, operation, and maintenance activities in the area and adjust accordingly.
      5. MONITORING, INSPECTION, AND SUPERVISION OF PROJECT WORK

        1. Provide oversight and supervision for all related project construction activities.
        2. Monitor and update project schedule per progress and be able to communicate it during weekly construction meetings.
        3. Support the receipt and acceptance of materials and equipment purchased by DSM intended for projects.
        4. Perform field inspections of all work to ensure execution is according to the project specifications and are within the standards and compliance with all applicable codes and good construction practices.
        5. Identification of construction problems verified in the field due to design error or omission and ability to determine the appropriate solutions.
        6. Provide construction support on weekends if required.
      6. RECEIPT OF WORK, POST-STARTUP PENDING ISSUES, AND COMMISSIONING

        1. Receipt and verification of the project work according to project deliverables.
        2. Preparation and monitoring of project punch list items until their closure.
        3. Execution and monitoring of construction and commissioning tests ensuring they are executed and properly documented.
        4. Manage the qualification and performance of companies contracted at DSM (weekdays, weekends, and holidays) while ensuring compliance with all DSM safety standards and lifesaving rules.
        5. Manage and ensure adequate working conditions (safety, hygiene, ergonomics, environment, fire protection, etc.) during project work.
      7. QUALITY ASSURANCE

        1. Maintain the project technical construction file.
        2. Ensure all updated project documentation gets in the hands of the contractors when a new design revision is issued.
        3. Ensure that the project team has engineering documentation as last reviewed if there are changes.
      8. PROCEDURES AND DAILY MANAGEMENT

        1. Management of weekly construction meetings with contractors and DSM engineering personnel (preparation of agenda, organization of participants, preparation of minutes and coordination of the meeting).
        2. Provide oversight on the construction site area to ensure its maintained and organized during project work.
        3. Carry out planned inspections of contractors' equipment and facilities, generate action plans and ensure compliance.
        4. Ensure that companies with 6 or more workers within the factory have always at least 1 (one) safety technician.
        5. Ensure compliance with action plans (safety) generated during accident/incident investigations.
        6. Support onsite building permit issuers to expedite the issuance of permits to work each day during construction.
        7. Guide new contracted companies and their workers with the aim of helping to reduce the inertia of the first jobs.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -B.S. Mechanical Engineer or Chemical Engineer

    • 1+ Years of Experience in an operating plant preferably chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, or nutraceuiticals.
    • Capital Project Management experience in-plant with process equipment (pumps is a must), technical and detailed oriented.
    • Heavy Mechanical project experience including small buildings and piping equipment. Pumps, Vacuum pumps, boilers, air compressors, gear boxes, instrumentation, and other rotating equipment.
    • (Preferred) experience with DRY POWDERS and their handling (MILLING, EXTRUDING, DRYING, SIFTING, DENSE PHASE CONVEYING, ETC.
