Overview
Project Performer is a performing arts studio in Encinitas, CA, providing high-level training in acting, singing, and dance for students ages 5–18.
We are seeking a skilled On-Camera Acting Instructor who is passionate about helping young performers develop authentic, grounded performances for film and television.
We are looking for an instructor who understands how to bridge technique and industry application — preparing students not just to act well, but to audition, self-tape, and perform confidently on camera in today’s industry.
Position Details
We are hiring for: • Summer (July) - on-camera summer intensives • 2026–2027 Season (August–June) with a consistent weekly schedule (aligned with school-year breaks) • Opportunity to teach group classes, with optional additional opportunities for private coaching
What You’ll Do
• Teach structured on-camera acting classes for kids and teens (up to intermediate/advanced levels) • Guide students through scene work, commercial acting, and audition technique • Help students develop natural, truthful performances for camera • Coach students on self-taping, framing, eyelines, and on-camera presence • Provide clear, constructive feedback that helps students improve efficiently • Prepare students for auditions in film, TV, and commercials • Create a focused, supportive classroom environment that builds confidence and professionalism • Collaborate with faculty to support student growth across disciplines
Additional Expectations
• Attend monthly team meetings (Zoom) • Participate in quarterly professional development • Attend and support our end-of-year recital/showcase
Who This Is For
This role is ideal for an on-camera acting instructor who: • Has real-world film/TV experience and understands current industry standards • Is passionate about helping young actors build confidence and authenticity on camera • Can teach both beginner fundamentals and more advanced on-camera technique • Enjoys working with group classes and mentoring young performers • Can balance technical skill-building with creativity and play • Values professionalism, preparation, and student growth
Qualifications
• On-camera (film/TV/commercial) acting experience required • Minimum 2+ years of coaching or teaching acting required • Experience working with kids and teens • Strong understanding of audition technique and self-taping • Ability to break down acting concepts in a clear, relatable way • Strong communication and classroom management skills • Professional, reliable, and collaborative • Huge plus if you can also teach acting technique and/or improv classes
