    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    American Iron & Metal is a growth-oriented metal recycling and processing company located in Phoenix, Arizona. Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent is responsible for project management and leads the organization in the critical engineering tasks, development and/or implementation of strategies and polices as related to the Project. A strong collaborative approach in the implementation and initiatives is essential in the success of this role. This position performs principle functions to ensure overall safety, completion; process and procedure of projects are on time and on budget.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Leads an interdepartmental team to complete an assigned project on time, to specifications, and with accuracy and efficiency.
    • Collaborates and leads the project team toward preparation of a professional and economical set of plans and specifications.
    • Fully document equipment, including design drafting, and revision control in accordance with proposal and client.
    • Ensures appropriate QA/QC practices are implemented, consistent with company practices.
    • Conducts cost analysis, estimating expected costs for the project.
    • Leads the production/coordination of preliminary and detailed design drawings and preparation of related reports, coordination of approvals, development of construction cost estimates, and liaising with client, sub-consultants, and contractors.
    • Reviews products for cost-effectiveness of design and material selection
    • Tendering, contract awards and contract management
    • Conducts risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk (including termination of the project if appropriate).
    • Addresses questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout the project.
    • Acts as a liaison between company, customers, and vendors.
    • Coordinate with all consultants and plan meetings and development actions.
    • Plans, schedules, strategies and oversees all construction activities while continually maintaining the building code requirements
    • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
    •  Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 4-5 years of Project Management experience
    • College degree in Civil Engineering, Business or Project Management
    • Knowledge in Heavy industrial Equipment considered an asset
    • Demonstrate strong leadership skills within the field of expertise.
    • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work requirements effectively with minimal direction.
    • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Strong written and oral communication.
    • Strong Attention to Detail
    • Experience in estimating, planning approval processes and working within the regulatory process would be considered an asset
    • Work will require travel and occasional weekend and/or evenings
    • Ability to read/produce site plans and specifications
    • Ability to use MS Project is a must, Auto cad is a plus
    • Knowledge of the Environmental Civil regulations and norms
    • Experience in project management in construction
    • general contractor or developer, projects is essential
    • valid driver's license
