    Position Overview

    CLF Consultants LLC seeks experienced, nationally certified spoken-language medical interpreters for on-site interpretation at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) and outlying Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) clinics. Priority languages include Spanish and a range of other languages such as Arabic, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin, Dari, Farsi, and French, among others.

    This is an on-site, per-assignment 1099 engagement covering both prescheduled and short-notice (emergency) requests. Interpreters must be U.S. citizens and able to pass facility background and security screening.

    This role suits an experienced medical interpreter seeking meaningful, mission-driven assignments on a flexible schedule with CLFC administrative and scheduling support.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide accurate, faithful on-site spoken-language interpretation for medical encounters, appointments, and consultations at BAMC and outlying JBSA clinics
    • Provide sight translation of documents as needed during encounters
    • Interpret for both prescheduled and short-notice (emergency, under 48 hours) assignments
    • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and facility privacy requirements at all times
    • Complete daily assignment logs and required documentation accurately and on time
    • Coordinate scheduling with the CLFC scheduling team and facility points of contact for prescheduled and short-notice assignments
    • Comply with all facility, Army, and DHA security, safety, and clinical-support standards

    Required Qualifications

    • National medical-interpreter certification: CCHI (CoreCHI or CHI) or NBCMI (CMI)
    • Fluency in English and at least one target language (Spanish strongly desired; other languages welcome)
    • U.S. citizenship (copy of birth certificate or naturalization papers required)
    • Demonstrated experience interpreting in medical or healthcare settings
    • Ability to pass facility background and security screening, with reliable transportation to San Antonio-area sites

    Strongly Preferred Qualifications

    • Proficiency in a high-demand or less-common language (Arabic, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Korean, Dari, Farsi, and similar)
    • Prior experience in a military, VA, or federal healthcare setting
    • Experience with document translation and QA
    • Familiarity with medical terminology across specialties
    • Advanced certification (CCHI CoreCHI/CHI or NBCMI CMI), extensive medical experience, and proficiency in high-demand languages (Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Korean, and similar) are strongly desired and earn the top of the pay range
    • Experience interpreting in emergency departments, surgery, oncology, behavioral health, labor and delivery, ICU, or specialty clinics
