    On-Site Rx has an exciting opportunity for a cashier serving Chesapeake Public Schools at our Knell's Ridge pharmacy location.

    Job Purpose

    The Pharmacy Cashier is a key member of the pharmacy team, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and assisting in the efficient processing of prescription orders and over-the-counter sales. This role plays a vital part in creating a positive and seamless experience for our clients and patients. This position requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while adhering to all applicable compliance laws and regulations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Customer Service: Greet customers, answer inquiries, and provide assistance with prescription drop-offs, pick-ups, and over-the-counter purchases, ensuring a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

    • Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and insurance billing for prescription orders and sales, and reconcile the cash register at the end of each shift.

    • Prescription Processing: Assist in the collection of prescription information, including insurance details, and ensure all required information is accurately recorded for processing.

    • Product Knowledge: Acquire and maintain knowledge of over-the-counter products, medications, and healthcare items to effectively assist customers with product selections and inquiries.

    • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining organized and well-stocked shelves, reporting any inventory shortages or discrepancies to the pharmacy manager or designated personnel.

    • Patient Privacy: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient information and medication-related matters.

    • Telephone Assistance: Answer and direct incoming phone calls to the appropriate pharmacy staff members, addressing patient inquiries and prescription status requests.

    • Perform other job duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    • Excellent customer service skills

    • Attention to detail and accuracy in payment processing and issuing medication

    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment

    • Basic math skills for cash handling and register reconciliation

    • Basic computer skills for point-of-sale systems

    • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous retail or customer service experience

    Physical Conditions & Requirements

    Work is primarily conducted in a retail pharmacy setting, which may include standing for extended periods. Exposure to various medications and healthcare equipment. Interaction with patients and healthcare professionals. Ability to lift and carry boxes or containers of medications and supplies (up to 25 pounds). Manual dexterity for handling medication containers, labels, and pharmacy equipment. Visual acuity for reading small print on prescription labels and using computer screens.
