Once Upon a Childcare is looking for an experienced Early Childhood Teacher to join our team! As a lead floater, you will be doing breaks and being a substitute teacher in multiple classes, build relationships with your families, maintain cleanliness throughout the classrooms, update parents through our daily reports, and show patience and kindness to children. We are looking for happy, smiling faces to join our one-of-a-kind program and create a fun, engaging environment for our children and families.
Pay starts between $16.00 - $20.00 based on education and experience. On-going pay raises for all employees are awarded based on meeting program standards and expectations. Responsibilities:
Help teachers in multiple classrooms implement lesson plans
Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach children
Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, colors, art, etc...).
Track children's progress and report to parents
Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children's background and psyche.
Collaborate with other educators.
Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Experience working in a licensed childcare facility
Child development courses through an accredited college and/or EQIT/Pyramid Plus courses and/or a Level 2 or higher in the PDIS credential system
Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
Excellent communication and instructional skills
Ability to act as a mediator between children
Cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable
Certification in child CPR or willingness to obtain
Benefits:
All Employees will accrue Personal Time (PTO) at the rate of 1.92 hours earned for every 40 hours worked. All new employees will start accruing PTO immediately and will be available for use after a 60-day probationary period. PTO hours do not expire and can roll over to the following year.
Sick Pay will be accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked. A maximum of 48 hours will be applied to each employee's policy and paid out for absences due to illness each calendar year. Sick pay hours do not expire and can roll over to the following year.
Holiday pay will be paid based on your individual average hours worked and be paid to each employee after their 60-day probationary period.
