Location: Southeast Houston, TX (Local libraries, Starbucks, and Zoom)
Position Type: Part-Time, Flexible Schedule
Pay: $17–$20 per hour , depending on experience
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic tutor to provide one-on-one tutoring for students in grades Pre-K through 8th in the subjects of Reading, Math, and Spanish. This role includes both in-person and virtual sessions. In-person sessions are held at local libraries and Starbucks locations in the 77089 and 77075 zip codes , and virtual sessions are conducted via Google Meet.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual (one-on-one) tutoring sessions for students in Pre-K through 8th grade.
Create engaging lessons tailored to each student’s academic level and learning style.
Support students with homework, test preparation, and foundational skill development.
Monitor and communicate student progress with parents or guardians.
Maintain professionalism, reliability, and a positive learning environment.
Qualifications:
At least one year of teaching or tutoring experience required.
Ability to teach Reading, Math, and Spanish to students in grades Pre-K–8.
Proficient in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking).
Comfortable teaching both in person and virtually (via Zoom).
Reliable transportation for in-person sessions.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree or current studies in Education or a related field.
Experience with online teaching platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet.
Familiarity with local libraries and public study areas in zip codes 77089 and 77075.
