    OneOC is proud to offer the EncoreOC Professionals Program throughout Orange County! As an EncoreOC Professional, you will connect with a local nonprofit in meaningful & purposeful service to help address unmet community needs. During the project program period, you will fulfill critical project-based assignments that will bolster the infrastructure of the nonprofit at which you are serving.

    Job Title: Volunteer Board Member

    Position Information: This board member will support the work of a school (education nonprofit) with a vision to create a center for learning where students from transitional kindergarten to eighth grade are preparing for a future characterized by rapid change and inspired by higher education, global mindedness and the skills needed to thrive in the 21st century global community.

    To ensure the schools’ ongoing success, the Board of Directors provide external accountability, internal oversight and leadership. Specific duties of the Board of Directors include:

    Promote and guide the mission and vision of the school;

    Hire and evaluate the Executive Director;

    Receive reports directly from the Executive Director of the total operation of school including, but not limited to, budget, curriculum, activities, student achievement data, evaluation of Chancellor, and renewal of staff contracts;

    Ratify contracts of employees after recommendation by the Executive Director;

    Act as a fiscal agent, which includes the receipt of funds for operations;

    Develop, review, or revise performance measures, including school goals;

    Review the school master calendar and schedule of Board meetings;

    Develop Board of Directors policies and procedures;

    Participate in the dispute resolution, when necessary;

    Ratify charter amendments;

    Approve annual fiscal audit and performance report;

    Ratify personnel discipline decisions (suspensions or dismissals), as needed; and

    Ratify compensation plans and stipend schedules

    Skills:

    Financial expertise

    Prior educational experience, preferred

    Partnership development

    Fundraising experience
