    ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

    Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF) is led by a team of dedicated staff who are guided by the organization’s core values of commitment, collaboration, and creativity. IPSF was founded in 1996 by parents and community leaders with a goal of enriching the educational experience of each child in every school. Since then IPSF has donated more than $68 million in grants, donations, and program services to the Irvine Unified School District for the benefit of the entire community. During the 2018-19 school year, IPSF was able to:

    Donate over $6 million in grants, donations and program support to the IUSD

    Serve nearly 25,000 students through programs like Instrumental Rental, ACE, and Summer Enrichment Academy.

    Provide need-based scholarships to 100% of all qualified students.

    IPSF has been ranked the number three foundation in the nation, and number one in California, by Stepping Up: The Nation’s Top K-12 Education Foundations, the nation’s only annual study and ranking of K-12 education foundations.

    THE OPPORTUNITY

    Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and participating as a member of the senior management team, the Executive Vice President provides strategic fundraising support and direction and day-to-day management of IPSF’s programs and services. The Executive Vice President has responsibility for corporate fundraising and major gifts development, for coordinating functions for program expansion, and for providing operational oversight to meet the organization’s strategic goals. The Executive Vice President supervises the Chief Development Officer, Chief Program Officer, and Director of Marketing and Communications.

    Scope of Responsibility:

    Assists CEO in furthering the mission of IPSF and successfully achieving strategic goals:

    o Develops and executes a strong, comprehensive corporate fundraising and major gifts program aimed to support annual revenue goals.

    o Manages and cultivates relationships with public and private funders.

    o Assists in ensuring that IPSF is adhering to the strategic plan.

    o Provides for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence.

    o Demonstrates a passion for and promotes the mission, values and goals of IPSF.

    o Contributes to the development and implementation of IPSF’s strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management and operational oversight of the organization.

    o Assists in developing and implementing annual budget in conjunction with CEO and CFO.

    o Ensures continued financial viability of IPSF’s operational units through sound fiscal management.

    o Creates efficient and effective systems to increase productivity of the organization.

    o Develops, maintains and supports a strong Board of Trustees.

    o Actively participates in Board of Trustees succession planning; cultivates relationship with Board prospects, staffs Board Development Committee, recruits and trains incoming Board members.

    o Represents IPSF in the community as necessary.

    o Communicates effectively with all contacts – internal and external. Works well with diverse people.

    o Maintains continuous lines of communication, keeping CEO informed of all critical issues.

    Oversees Programs, Development, and Community Relations departments:

    o Provides effective leadership to Chief Development Officer, Chief Program Officer, and Director of Marketing and Communications.

    o Coordinates development goals with Chief Development Officer, ensuring implementation of a comprehensive plan for fundraising.

    o Mentors and develops program leads using a supportive and collaborative approach.

    o Establishes and monitors performance and development goals; conducts performance appraisals for program leads.

    o Coaches program leads in strategic plan implementation.

    o Ensures all departments operate in a manner to promote staff development and retention.

    o Ensures all program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of IPSF.

    o Ensures the delivery of quality programs within the realities of the budget.

    o Maintains current knowledge of and ensures implementation of organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

    o Assumes responsibility of the organization in the absence of CEO.

    Skills & Experience Required:

    Fundraising experience with proven track record of engaging a wide range of stakeholders and cultures required.

    Minimum seven (7) years experience and a track record in senior management required; nonprofit experience preferred.

    Deep experience in program budgeting and fiscal management required.

    Strong mentoring/coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise required.

    Must have superior management skills with an ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.

    Able to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience and judgment.

    Uses excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution.

    Must have exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to communicate persuasively and passionately and effectively interface with senior management, IPSF’s board of trustees and staff.

    Able to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.

    Uses critical thinking skills to create documents and spreadsheets and interpret information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Must be well-organized and have the ability to manage multiple and competing tasks and deadlines.

    Able to set goals based on available information and to plan work in order to meet deadlines.

    Able to formulate appropriate responses to requests for services and information from internal and external customers.

    Uses Microsoft Office Tools, such as Word and Excel, as well as Internet and email programs proficiently.

    Results proven track record of creating problem-solving and change management.

    Education Required:

    Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or similar advanced degree highly preferred.
