    About this position

    OnePet is looking for a Public Relations (PR) Assistant to support our PR team with various administrative tasks. Your work will be instrumental in the development and execution of PR plans and strategies.

    Our ideal candidate will be a creative PR or communications graduate, brimming with potential. A fervent interest in the field partnered with good writing and research skills are very important to us. If you're also well-organized, confident and an excellent communicator, we'd like to meet you.

    This is a part-time role with the opportunity to grow into full-time. You will report to the PR Manager.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Taking part in brainstorming sessions and suggesting innovative ideas.
    • Editing and proofreading social media content, videos, press releases, emails, and other communications about clients that will be sent to the public.
    • Assisting with the organization and execution of various media and PR events.
    • Draft media pitches on timely topics, products, and content.
    • Answering phones, responding to emails and inquiries, and performing other administrative tasks.
    • Managing calendars and media lists.
    • Maintaining the PR database, documenting media coverage, and tracking PR metrics.
    • Developing and maintaining positive relationships and networking with reporters and journalists.

    Requirements:

    • 1+ years working in a newsroom or in PR/Digital Marketing (or similar).
    • A bachelor's or associate's degree in communications, public relations, or a similar field.
    • Understanding and ability to read and compile analytic reports.
    • Willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and methods.
    • Outstanding writing skills.
    • Strong communication, teamwork, and presentation skills.
    • Experience in Cision or similar pitching tools a plus.
