San Jose, CA

Every year, over 34,000 people are severely injured by forklifts in warehouses. We prevent employees from getting injured, while also enhancing the productivity and accuracy of human operators using Computer Vision and Deep Learning. We have tracked and optimized hundreds of thousands of hours of material handling across the US and in Europe, where our camera-based solution has fundamentally changed the way that our customers are running their operations. We are opening an engineering office in the Bay Area and are looking to bring on a highly motivated Researcher excited to work at the intersection of cutting-edge Computer Vision and Deep Learning problems for our products. In this role, you will be working with a small and extremely dynamic team of humans excited about finding creative algorithmic solutions to complex problems. Our mantra is "Think Simple" and with that, we are really looking for people who are excited about finding practical and reliable solutions that work in the real world and who can do so effectively. We have a quickly growing fleet of production systems deployed in real warehouses. Our development cycle is very short since we can push updates over the air - therefore, we often release prototypes of new features within days of getting started on them. This allows us to truly validate our methods at scale and in the real world. In this position, you would be working on a number of complicated problems with the goal of applying and developing various Computer Vision methods to solve them.  Some of the areas that you would be working on in this role are:

    1. Multi-view geometry & motion estimation/tracking
    2. Feature detection & correspondence matching
    3. Object detection & image segmentation
    4. Action recognition from video sequences & many more

As an ideal candidate, you have experience implementing Computer Vision/Deep Learning-based systems that actually work (and beyond the scope of regular class projects in college). A Bachelor's Degree or higher is required and you have to be good at math (linear algebra, statistics, etc.). Programming experience in Python is required and you have to be comfortable with git, OpenCV, numpy, scipy, Tensorflow. Any experience with the following is a plus: AWS, zmq, OpenVINO, docker, bash scripting, operating systems. We will consider remote applicants, but at this point, you have to be located in North America. Please do not apply if you are not located in North America, sorry!
