    Job Description

    The Strategic Communications Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance and delivery of external and executive communications strategies and initiatives that help the company meet its business goals and enhance the company's brand and reputation. You will focus on successful implementation of these responsibilities will result in sustained and significantly improved innovation communications, public relations, and reputation management for the company. In collaboration with the team, help to shape the thinking for senior leaders through data, trends and deep understanding of the changing business landscape.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage the development, planning, implementation, and delivery of communications as part of a strategic and integrated program that enhances corporate reputation and enables attainment of company goals

    • Work across functions to embed innovation, customer, commercial and operational success stories in broader communications campaigns and initiatives

    • Analyze and measure results and adjust strategy / execution as appropriate

    • Support the development, maintenance and delivery of digital communications, social media strategy, PR and other external communications across traditional and online media platforms

    • Partner with communications colleagues and business leadership to ensure successful implementation of internal communications to help connect employees to business priorities

    • Develop effective corporate messaging based on a thorough understanding of business operations and goals, and consistently use this messaging across all platforms to advance the interest of the company

    • Support relationships with the news media and including media relations activities to minimize the impact of negative news and enhance the impact of positive news

    • Serve as one of the utility’s spokespersons

    • Manage specific projects, closely collaborating with others throughout the company, to effectively deliver communications on time and on budget

    • Build and maintain productive relationships with senior executives, company management, colleagues, and employees to improve internal and external communications on behalf of the company

    • Plan, author, provide content, edit, and deploy communications for a variety of external and internal communications channels

    • Be a superb writer -- fast and accurate -- and be able to apply that skill to every medium we use, including publications, Intranet, Internet, advertising, social media, and others

    • Have excellent presentation skills, and be able to persuade, and to diplomatically disagree, when necessary, to advance the company's public relations interests

    • Be prepared to prove your writing, communications, and marketing planning skills

    • Serve on the emergency on-call rotation and be prepared to manage and support crisis communications activities

     

     

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree in marketing communications or relevant field

    • Proven experience in similar integrated communications role in a corporate setting or serving the same function for clients in an agency setting

    • Advanced proficiency in personal computing skills

    • Working knowledge of web and social media strategy

    • Knowledge of the utility industry and demonstrated leadership skills

    • Work cooperatively and effectively as part of a team; a strong focus on constructive culture and appropriate behaviors

    • Demonstrate strategic capability of core storytelling digital communications experience skills including outstanding writing ability
