    Job Description:

    XR Trading, LLC seeks to add a Systems Administrator to an existing IT team to assist, monitor and progressively improve the existing IT infrastructure of a professional trading environment.

    Ideal Candidate:

    The ideal candidate is likely to have worked within the financial industry with a robust background in systems architecture, maintenance and monitoring. The candidate will be added to an existing IT team which s/he will interact with on a daily basis. This position interacts with all IT functional areas (e.g. systems architecture, design, Helpdesk/Desktop support, application development, and support). The candidate will be someone who can troubleshoot technology related problems that might include Active Directory, Exchange Server, proxy servers, security design, datacenter design, troubleshooting intermittent packet loss, latency issues, exchange server malfunctions, network engineering, trading system connectivity, and equipment failure. The successful candidate must be highly self motivated, excel at multitasking, and comfortable working in a demanding, state of the art trading environment.

    Job Functions:

    • Day to day support of server and application environments.
    • * Proactively suggest enhancements to existing configurations, technologies or procedures.
      
      • Work closely with all IT functional areas to design and implement operational requirements for new and existing IT systems.
      • Troubleshoot intricate systems and networking issues down to the bit level and up to the application layer.
      • Provide critical thinking to complex problems in a 24/7, mission critical mixed Windows/Linux environment.
      • Process, monitor and prioritize trouble tickets.
      • Automate any and all tasks that can be automated.
      • Remote datacenter design support and management.
      • Assist in hardware/software purchases.
      • Ability to follow and enhance existing IT policies and procedures.
      • On-call rotation.
      • Support other key initiatives as the business dictates.

    Job Qualities:

    * Strong understanding of the TCP/IP suite.
    * Install new /rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, services, settings directories and storage in accordance with company standards
    * Extensive knowledge of Active Directory and Exchange Server
    * Knowledge of backup strategies and software
    *       * Detailed knowledge of the OSI layers 1-4 and associated equipment.
      * Experience with packet sniffing applications (Snort, TCPDump, Wireshark, Netmon, etc).
      * Knowledge of the latest in server hardware technology and trends.
      * Experience with core system administration and troubleshooting for Windows (Server 2008, 2008 R2) and Linux (CentOS, Fedora, RHEL) operating systems.
      * Experience performance tuning server and networking infrastructures.
      * Solid knowledge of scripting languages (bash, perl, powershell, vbscript, powershell) or programming languages (C++, C#, VB).
      * Experience with advanced network concepts and technologies such as QoS, CoS, IDS/IPS, VoIP, flow control, PFC, store-and-forward switching and cut-through switching.
      * Experience with bug/ticket tracking systems like JIRA a plus.
      * Experience with SAN and iSCSI infrastructure
      * Experience with 10gb Ethernet
      * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to interact with management, vendors and external parties and should be able to effectively communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner. Must be able to thoroughly document implementations, modifications and removals. 
      * Highly organized, self-motivated, able to multi-task, able to work independently as well as a team player.​
      * Analytical and detail orientated.
      * Strongly motivated and able to be self-managed and organized.
      * Must be willing to work some weekend shifts in support of maintenance and participate in on-call rotation duties.
      * Must have experience in 24x7 environments.
      * Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

    Requirements:

      * S. C.S. / MIS degree.
      * 5+ years’ experience in network/systems administration.
      * Active or near completion of MCSE, CCNA or similar IT certification a plus.

    Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work or role with 5-7 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.

    Requires excellent communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand.   Able to explain programs policies and procedures in language that is understood by others.  .

    Must be able to modify communication style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience targeted.  Requires strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer. Able to write with the clarity and precision necessary for the work being performed.

    Extensive knowledge of general employment laws, recruitment, EEO/AAP, safety training and policy development.
