Oversee operation of XRF business line of the Advanced Microanalysis Centre. Provide data QA/QC for all Advanced Microanalysis Centre business lines including XRF, electron microprobe, LA-ICPMS and XRD as required. Obtain proper standards (internationally traceable standard reference materials) and establish calibrations for proper functioning of XRF. Establish consistent sample preparation techniques for pressed powder pellets and fused glass beads. Operate or oversee operation of the XRF equipment. Ensure that the maintenance procedures are followed to maintain proper operation of the XRF equipment. Establish and expand client base for XRF. Standardize procedures to ensure strict controls on data quality for all Advanced Microanalysis Centre business lines. Oversee and maintain the ISO certification of the XRF business line. Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access and experience with LIMS. Understanding of basic principles of XRF. Familiar with operation and calibration of XRF. Confident in a laboratory environment. 10 years experience as a lab technician with a minimum of 5 years experience with XRF or MSc in geology and some experience operating XRF equipment and training in quality control and assurance.
