    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    The US Legal Counsel will be primarily responsible for supporting Opy's corporate legal function by advising on a broad range of matters including data privacy and security, payments, intellectual property (IP), and general corporate law and governance, as well as negotiating partner, merchant, vendor, and other commercial contracts to accelerate our US growth. This role will also provide US regulatory and compliance support

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

    • Supporting the Opy US senior leadership with counsel on matters pertaining to privacy, data security, payments, and IP
    • Negotiation of partner, merchant, vendor, and other commercial agreements
    • Providing guidance on commercial contract best practices to internal stakeholders
    • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, terms, templates and other key legal documents
    • Work in collaboration with our US Marketing, Finance, Product, Growth, and Success teams as well as with our Group legal function in Australia

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

    • 4-6 years of relevant experience (prior in-house experience is preferred but not essential
    • Juris Doctor with a state bar membership in good standing
    • Highly developed communication and inter-personal skills
    • The ability to balance business objectives with legal risk
    • A natural disposition to roll your sleeves up and ‘pitch in'
    • Experience in the financial services/fintech space is an advantage
    • A desire to help build and shape and top tier organization on an amazing journey
