    Job Description

    TITLE: WEB DEVELOPER, FULL STACK (PRL R&D)

    Reports to: Director of R&D

    During the height of the coronavirus pandemic, a group of leading experts came together to launch the Pandemic Response Lab (PRL) which was announced by NYC’s Mayor De Blasio in August 2020. As New York City reopens, we recognize the need for fast, accurate and widespread testing. Based in the Alexandria Center for Life Science in Manhattan, PRL is a state-of-the-art high complexity lab dedicated to processing COVID-19 tests with results within 24-48 hours.

    We are currently seeking a Full-stack Web Developer to join our growing Research & Development team!

    GENERAL ROLE: 

    You will play an integral role in the R&D team by building web-based tools to accelerate scientific advances internally or to share data and analytics with external clients. You will be exposed to a broad range of projects with variable user requirements and deployment schedules. As a result, you will be expected to be an effective communicator and be capable of rapidly making design choices for each project.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Rapid prototyping of web-based interfaces for computational pipelines.

    • Instantiate and manage database systems for biological and clinical data.

    • User interface design appropriate for the user type.

    • Maturing applications for commercial deployment.

     
    

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Demonstrable track record in building full-stack websites, from user interfaces to backend databases.

    • Fluency in Javascript, Python and proficiency with common frameworks such as React/Nodejs/Django/Flask. 

    • Experienced in database management (SQL, NoSQL, MongoDB, etc.).

    • Keen eye for User Interface Design (UI/UX).

     

    ADVANCED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience in industries with high volumes of quantitative data, demand for business or custom analytics, and/or clinical operations.

    • Experience deploying enterprise-scale web applications.

    • MS or PhD in a quantitative, engineering, or biology field.
