    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Operational Services Engineer is responsible for providing technical support throughout the can line design, build, and installation process. This role collaborates with engineering, project management, and business development teams to ensure efficient project execution.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    Design & Technical Support
    • Participate in can and tooling design, process audits, equipment specifications, check-out, and commissioning.
    • Provide technical support to Business Development, Project Management, and Engineering.
    • Review manufacturing process layouts to identify potential bottlenecks and provide feedback to Engineering.

    Project & Vendor Coordination
    • Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and solicit bids for production equipment and tooling.
    • Lead and coordinate efforts with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure successful equipment commissioning and ongoing operational performance.
    • Assist in developing and delivering production and equipment training programs.
    • Provide criteria for can and tooling designs, including review and approval of can and tooling design drawings.

    Reporting & Documentation
    • Complete pre-delivery inspection (PDI) reports and job site progress reports following Roeslein standards.
    • Assist in developing labor, capital, and construction estimates to support plant operations and project planning.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Travel domestically and internationally up to 25% per year.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at multiple locations.
    • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.
    • Promote a positive working environment to achieve organizational goals.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Maintenance, or Packaging Engineering; or relevant industrial experience.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management, calculations, and engineering analysis.
    • Experience with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD Inventor for CAD modeling, drafting, and design validation.
    • Strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.
    • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, hydraulic systems and schematics, and P&IDs.
    • Ability to work independently on technical problems with guidance from leadership.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
    • Computer skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

    PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
    • Prior experience in the can and/or lid manufacturing industry.
    • Familiarity with production troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
    • Experience presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear.
