    Role Objective: The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring all agency related operational services meet the company’s quality expectations and that they are delivered in accordance with company policies and KPIs. This includes, quality standards, systems and training, and communication standards. The roles is highly instrumental in ensuring existing customers are retained and new business is captured through our reputation for quality services.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide leadership and mentoring to all operations teams within Biehl

    Maintain and update operational KPIs and ensure they are realized

    Contribute to the development and maintenance of systems and process training

    Ensure systems are utilized correctly and in accordance with process and policy

    Ensure communication with customers and vendors is timely, accurate and in line with business KPIs

    Ensure information is accurately entered into the port agency software system and port call process complies with company policy and KPIs

    Ensure work instructions for key customers are understood and adhered to

    Ensure relationships with key vendors is managed properly with discounts negotiated and tariff updates processed as soon as received

    Work with sales and marketing to ensure key customers and vendors are met with regularly and call reports provided

    Work with customers and vendors to gather feedback and ensure service levels are meeting or exceeding expectations

    Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

    Planning

    Math, accounting and basic statistics skills required

    Ability to be on call in case of emergency

    Familiar with various types of vessels

    Familiar with local port areas

    Competent in the use of industry related software and systems

    Education & Experience:

    College degree preferred or High school diploma

    Prior experience with ships, tugs, etc. and accompanying paperwork requirements preferred

    Minimum 10 to 15 years prior Agency, Husbandry or related experience

    Physical Requirements:

    Required to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps; reach; stand; walk; talk; and hear

    Must exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects

    Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as analyzing figures, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading and visual inspection

    Worker is subject to environmental conditions both inside and outside, with no effective protection from weather, with sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard, and to physical hazards, such as moving parts, vehicles, electricity, heights, and large bodies of deep water
