  • Responsibilities

    Continental Van Lines is seeking an Operations Manager who would be responsible for overseeing day-to-day dispatch of local crews, port operations and daily warehouse functions. This person must be able to pay close attention to details, ability to multi-task and has excellent MS Office skills. Job details

    Salary: $70,000-75,000/ year D.O.E.

    Full-time with benefits

    Monday - Friday

    Occasional Saturday during peak season

    Education & Experience/ Skills

    High school diploma or GED required

    Minimum 2 years experience in moving or related industry

    Minimum 2 years supervisory experience

    Knowledge of DOT & FMCSA requirements

    Working knowledge of Van line processes, rules and regulations (preferred)

    Demonstrated computer skills including MS Office and other internal systems

    Organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)

    Job responsibilities

    Daily dispatching of crews, vehicles and warehouse personnel

    Assure safety is the first priority for all personnel

    Resolve any operational issues that may arise from day-to-day

    Manage local capacity, schedule jobs, crews and equipment

    Upholds and enforces company standards and policies such as attendance and uniforms

    Supervise warehouse activities

    Receive inbound and outbound drivers from outside the Company

    The Operations Manager will have responsibilities to work in the warehouse, including operating warehouse equipment

    Daily paperwork preparation

    Help interview and hire operational personnel

    Demonstrate close communication with sales and move management regarding service requirements

    Liaise with Van Line operations and other agents as required

    Participate on Safety Committee and maintain current knowledge of safety requirements including DOT & FMCSA regulations

    Maintain daily PTI files

    Participate in monthly crew meetings and training activities

    Audit crew hours and time reporting

    Oversee shipment processing of the Company’s daily activities to ensure all charges are captured to reflect services performed

    Team player who can work cooperatively across departmental lines

    Conditions

    Full-time in office position

    Bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, and standing for extended periods of time

    Ability to cope with the varying Pacific NW weather and temperature conditions

    Frequent exposure to sunlight, dust and dirt, grease, exhaust and/or fuel fume odors and elevated noise levels.

    Must be able to handle a demanding, fast-paced work environment
