Role Overview The Operations Manager oversees the daily execution of Foot Soldiers’ field and administrative operations. This role ensures that all services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in compliance with NYC sanitation standards and customer expectations. The Operations Manager coordinates staff, contractors, routing, equipment, and scheduling while maintaining service quality, operational accountability, and strong relationships with clients and community partners. This role focuses on strengthening systems, improving team performance, and preparing Foot Soldiers for operational growth. It is ideal for a strong field supervisor, dispatcher, or service coordinator who is ready to grow into an operations leadership role.
Compensation, Benefits & Time Requirement
Work hours vary based on operational needs and may increase during peak demand periods, including winter snow events, emergency sanitation operations, and major cleaning projects. Must have weekend and holiday availability when necessary.
The Operations Manager must be available during high-demand operational periods and support the team during time-sensitive service situations.

Core Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Oversee and optimize day-to-day field operations.
Plan, route, and schedule service teams using digital dispatch and monitoring tools.
Ensure timely, high-quality completion of all services.
Continuously improve operational workflows, systems, and processes.
Maintain operational readiness for seasonal demands including snow events and sanitation projects.
Resource & Team Management
Allocate staff, materials, and equipment to meet service timelines while maximizing budget.
Supervise and support Technicians and Dispatchers coordinate with Inspectors.
Lead regular team meetings to ensure clear communication and alignment.
Conduct HR-compliant interviews, performance evaluations, and coaching.
Monitor team hours and staffing levels to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Field Leadership
Conduct regular field visits, inspections, and ride-alongs with team members.
Maintain direct operational awareness of service quality and staff performance.
Provide on-site coaching and leadership to strengthen field execution.
Ensure operational standards are followed in real-world working conditions.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Develop, enforce, and update policies and procedures in line with NYC labor and sanitation laws.
Monitor service quality through inspections, documentation, and client feedback.
Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and operational transparency.
Lead operational preparation for seasonal sanitation challenges and snow removal initiatives.
Customer & Community Engagement
Uphold exceptional customer service standards.
Build and maintain professional relationships with community partners and clients.
Support the company’s mission to eliminate dirty streets, support kingdom causes, and foster clean, healthy, and more vibrant communities.
Safeguard Foot Soldiers’ strong online reputation by maintaining high service ratings and service accountability.
Training & Development
Coordinate training and professional development for field teams.
Ensure technicians, dispatchers, and inspectors are properly trained in operational systems, safety procedures, and service standards.
Lead coaching and corrective actions that support accountability and growth.
Administration & Reporting
Manage equipment hubs, inventory, and supply chains.
Use dashboards, reports, and operational metrics to guide decision-making.
Maintain accurate operational documentation.
Manage staff timekeeping and support payroll reporting processes.
Assist with administrative operations as needed.
Performance Expectations
Success in this role will be measured through operational metrics, including:
Service reliability: No more than 2 verified service issues per 100 clients per week
On-time completion: 95% on-time service completion
Operational efficiency: Routes reviewed and optimized weekly
Labor oversight: Staff hours monitored daily to prevent unnecessary overtime
Seasonal readiness: Maintain readiness for storm response and seasonal operations
Quality assurance: Regular inspections and documentation to ensure service standards
Crisis & Seasonal Operations
Foot Soldiers operates in a dynamic environment that includes weather events, sanitation challenges, and urgent service needs.
The Operations Manager must be able to lead high-intensity operations during:
Snowstorms
Emergency service situations
Large sanitation projects
Sudden operational disruptions
This role requires calm decision-making, rapid problem-solving, and strong leadership under pressure.
Job Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in operations management, field service leadership, sanitation, logistics, or a related industry.
Demonstrated ability to manage field teams and operational logistics.
Valid driver’s license required.
Strong project management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Proven experience leading diverse teams and building accountability.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Experience using operational tools such as Slack, Google Workspace, CRM systems, and operational dashboards.
Comfort using data and metrics to guide decisions.
Knowledge of labor compliance and operational documentation standards.

Work Environment
Primarily onsite at our Brooklyn office, with regular field presence and occasional remote administrative work. The Operations Manager must be comfortable moving between office leadership, field supervision, and digital operational management.
