As one of Charlotte's 20 fastest growing private companies (2024), we are seeking an experienced, highly organized Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our sign shop. This role is central to keeping projects on schedule, ensuring installations run smoothly, and supporting both our production and installation teams with the resources and leadership they need to succeed. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Production Manager and Installation Lead to deliver high-quality signage on time and on budget, while maintaining an efficient and safe workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Coordination
Create and manage installation schedules to ensure on-time project completion.
Coordinate with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams to align timelines.
Adjust schedules proactively when projects change or challenges arise.
Team Leadership & Resource Management
Supervise and support installation crews and shop staff.
Work with the Production Manager to allocate labor, equipment, and materials effectively.
Ensure the team has the training, tools, and resources needed to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.
Operational Oversight
Manage the daily workflow of the shop, ensuring jobs move smoothly from design/production through installation.
Monitor project costs, labor hours, and efficiency to keep jobs profitable.
Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Customer & Vendor Relations
Serve as a point of contact for customers regarding scheduling, logistics, and installations.
Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and outsourced components.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
Implement systems and processes to scale operations as the company grows.
Qualifications
3–5 years of operations, project management, or production management experience (sign industry or construction/graphics/printing preferred).
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to motivate and direct teams.
Familiarity with sign manufacturing processes, installation practices, and equipment a strong plus.
Proficiency in scheduling software, project management tools, or ERP systems preferred.
