Operations Project Manager (Construction / Flooring)

Floor Coverings International – Boulder, CO

Base Salary: $45,000–$60,000 + Performance-Based Variable Compensation (Final compensation determined based on prior experience and demonstrated operational impact)

    Overview

Floor Coverings International Boulder is seeking an experienced Operations Project Manager to lead production execution and operational profitability as we continue to scale.

This role is designed for a construction or GC operations professional who is highly organized, systems-driven, and financially accountable. You will manage a portfolio of 20–40 active residential projects per month, support a 5:1 sales-to-PM ratio, and be directly responsible for protecting and improving realized margin beyond landed estimates.

This is not a field supervisor or installer-step-up role. This position functions as the operational leader of the business — effectively the COO of day-to-day execution.

    What You’ll Be Responsible For

Owning the full project lifecycle from sales handoff through final close-out

Translating estimator scopes into detailed, executable work orders

Accurately determining material quantities, sequencing, and job readiness

Proactively scheduling and coordinating installation crews weeks in advance

Managing multiple concurrent projects without reactive firefighting

Communicating clearly and consistently with customers throughout production

Preventing margin loss through planning, documentation, and execution discipline

Building and enforcing scalable operational processes and standards

    Impact Expectations

    First 30 Days

Take ownership of active production pipeline and job tracking systems

Establish visibility across schedules, crews, and material readiness

Identify immediate sources of margin leakage and operational friction

    First 90 Days

Standardize estimator-to-PM handoff and work order documentation

Reduce job delays caused by missing materials or unclear scope

Demonstrate measurable margin protection through improved execution

    Year One

Reliably manage 20–40 concurrent jobs per month

Support continued sales growth without operational strain

Consistently improve realized margin beyond landed estimates

Serve as the operational decision-maker for production execution

    Long-Term

Act as the operational backbone of the business

Continuously improve systems, documentation, and scalability

Play a key role in long-term growth and profitability strategy

    How Success Is Measured

Margin improvement beyond landed margin (primary KPI)

Reduction in rework, shortages, and remobilizations

    On-time job starts and completions

    Customer satisfaction and communication quality

    Crew efficiency, utilization, and accountability

    Ideal Background

Experience in construction operations, GC project management, or trade operations

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Highly organized and process-oriented

Comfortable being measured by financial and operational outcomes

    Proactive, detail-driven, and systems-focused

This Role Is Not a Fit If You:

Are primarily an installer seeking a management opportunity

    Prefer reactive, field-only problem solving

    Are uncomfortable owning financial outcomes

Rely on experience alone rather than systems and documentation

    Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $45,000–$60,000, depending on experience

Variable compensation tied to operational performance and margin improvement

    Gas reimbursement

Growth opportunity as the company scales
