  • Responsibilities

    This position is critical to the ministry of Sky Ranch and contributes directly to our mission of leading youth and families to know and follow Christ. Operations Specialists are responsible for carrying out and completing daily operational duties which facilitate an excellent guest experience. Operational duties vary and may include working with food service, housekeeping, activities, retail, or maintenance as needed and as directed.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Daily Assignments – Operations Specialists must maintain operational safety according to the policies and procedures which govern Sky Ranch generally and each assigned department specifically. Proper training will be provided whenever an Operation Specialist is assigned to a department or task which they have not been previously assigned. Performance is satisfactory when the staff member:

    Takes directions from leadership staff as well as any full-time staff of Sky Ranch in a prompt and respectful manner

    Performs all assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner

    Conducts themselves in a mature and professional manner

    Arrives at assigned area and prepared for guests in a timely manner

    Conducts activities in accordance with Sky Ranch Policy and Procedures and training

    Refreshes him/herself with all guidance and safety precautions at the beginning of every activity period, or in any new area of camp function

    Provides First Aid care when needed and according to training

    Properly executes all Emergency Plans when needed

    Reports any faulty equipment

    Properly executes Opening/Shutdown procedures

    Immediately reports staff that are in violation of Sky Ranch Polices and Procedures or specific directives that have been provided by a supervisor

    Daily Operations – Staff help serve our guests to experience the “WOW” factor through serving in areas of housekeeping, camp maintenance and other tasks. These are served in such a manner that reflects 1) our desire to serve them, 2) our appreciation of them, and 3) satisfactorily meets their needs and expectations. Performance is satisfactory when:

    Guests are served in a manner that reflects their importance to us. As our “customers”, they are our sole reason for existence. Therefore, we will seek to treat them with gentleness, kindness, fairness, respect, and eagerly seek to meet their needs to the best out our abilities. Attitudes should reflect as “this is their camp, not ours.”

    Any situation where we fail to serve/please guests shall be brought to the attention of the employee’s supervisor and/or the Camp Director. In those cases, an attempt will be made to resolve the problem, design a system that prevents a recurrence, or offers an apology and/or refund.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Maintain compliance with Sky Ranch’s employee policies and procedures.

    Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.

    Perform other duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor’s degree is preferred

    EXPERIENCE

    Minimum one year of camp or retreats experience required

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Ministry Safe

    KNOWLEDGE

    Knowledge of workplace safety procedures

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Excellent communication skills (verbally interacts with campers, parents and staff and writes evaluations and letters to campers)

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Stands and walks long distances across camp during entire shift

    Verbally communicates with guests

    Reaches, bends and stoops frequently

    Capable of participating in all camp activities

    Climb ladders for activities

    Carries up to 50 lbs.

    Hazards may include, but are not limited to, slipping, tripping and environmental

    Frequent washing of hands

    OTHER

    Commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally. Must be able to fully support Sky Ranch’s Doctrinal Statement. An active membership in a church whose spiritual beliefs are aligned with Sky Ranch’s Doctrinal Statement.

    Commitment to Sky Ranch’s Vision, Mission, Values (Who We A.R.E.) and Principles (WOW, Stewardship, and Excellence) demonstrated in daily behavior.

    Must demonstrate annually a clear background check and review of child safety practices as required for camp accreditation by the American Camping Association.

    Possess personal spiritual discipline that models a proactive approach toward personal, spiritual, and relational health.
