    Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Operations & Trialing team is seeking an Operations Technician in Nampa, ID. This role will support all activities from seed to seed to ensure the successful execution of vegetable research trials in open-field and greenhouse environments.

    Accountabilities

    • Perform on- and off-station field and greenhouse trialing support and organization activities, such as planning field trials, planting, gathering relevant data, tissue sampling, pollinating, harvesting, seed request fulfillment, and processing seed.
    • Effectively lead crews of contract labor in field activities to ensure trial accuracy and quality standards are met.
    • Support station agronomic practices, such as field preparation work, irrigation, and weed control.
    • Operate farm equipment such as tractors, planters, and harvesters.
    • Ensure effective communication with peers, breeding teams, and supervisors regarding work progress.
    • Follow and apply all HSE (Health, Safety, & Environment) and Stewardship practices, as well as provide support to site management with the functional activities of a research facility.
    • Be on call for field and greenhouse emergencies or unscheduled work based on business needs or weather conditions (including weekends).

    _ PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must reside in and be permanently authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. This covers, but is not limited to, OPT, CPT, and H-1B visa holders._

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • BS/BA in agronomy, horticulture, plant science or an agricultural related field preferred.
    • Possession or ability to obtain forklift certification (training provided).
    • Hands on experience in operating GPS-equipped tractors and planters is desirable.
    • Understanding of agriculture and agronomy practices is desirable.
    • Experience in agricultural research, with an understanding of sweet corn, green beans, peas, and onion production, is desirable.
    • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s history is required.
    • Ability to use MS Office, especially Word and Excel, and other standard software.
    • Capable of working extended hours and weekends in all weather conditions during time critical periods of the growing season.
    • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
