    Job Summary

    This Operator I at the Georgia International House Park is a skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation of moderately complex and heavy equipment, which also requires the performance of manual labor. Work involves the operation of vehicles and equipment used in construction and maintenance projects, and to transport materials and personnel to and from work sites. Work also involves the use of power tools in preparing areas for construction. Work requires not only the safe and skilled operation of equipment but also maintaining the equipment. Work also involves acting as supervisor in the absence of the Operator II and the Foreman.

    • Responds to building maintenance calls.
    • Operates a dump truck (under 36,000 G.V.W.) and pulls large trailers when necessary.
    • Assists in work such as plumbing, electrical, and other construction jobs as needed.
    • Mows lawns with hand-powered and riding mowers.
    • Operates weed eater, chain saws, pressure washer, and other related equipment.
    • Operates bush hog, bobcat, water pump truck, chipper, pipe saws, boring tools, and any other related heavy equipment as required to assist in a variety of construction and maintenance projects.
    • Operates arena drags and various size tractors.
    • Constructs fences.
    • Operates GIHP irrigation system.
    • Performs routine inspection of trail system.
    • Performs event set-up.
    • Sets up public address systems.
    • Operates acetylene torches, propane torches, and performs minor welding.
    • Assists with routine maintenance on all equipment.
    • Assists Foreman and Operator II with coordination of work required by event promoters at the Georgia International Horse Park and other parks.
    • Acts as crew leader as directed as needed by management staff.
    • Assists in directing and supervising community service details and records when needed.
    • Provides daily assistance to promoters during events.
    • Knowledge of general safety practices and procedures.
    • Knowledge of how to operate a public address (PA) system.
    • Ability to safely operate power tools, hand-powered tools, light construction equipment, etc.
    • Ability to assemble materials and construction rough products.
    • Ability to recognize hazardous waste.
    • Ability to work around horses and riders.
    • Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
    • Ability to operate a two way radio.
    • Ability to work as part of a team.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

    Completion of a standard high school diploma, GED or equivalent from a regionally or nationally accredited school.
