SUMMARY
Under general supervision, this individual is responsible for the operation of heavy construction type equipment used in constructing, ditching and other maintenance such as storm drainage work, etc. Work is usually assigned and monitored by a Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May directly supervise 2-5 employees classified as General Maintenance Workers in various equipment operations. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees and directing work.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree GED required. Two years experience as a Large Equipment Operator I or II; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with the general public or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A valid Commercial Driver's License (C.D.L.) with appropriate endorsements is required.
