    The Glaucoma & Cataract Center of New Jersey is a modern, state-of-the-art ophthalmology practice located in Livingston, NJ, specializing in advanced glaucoma and cataract care. We are seeking a dependable Ophthalmic Technician / Scribe to join our clinical team in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

    This role includes diagnostic testing, assisting physicians during exams, and maintaining accurate documentation in the Nextech EMR.

    Compensation ranges from $25–$27 per hour depending on experience.

    Responsibilities

    Escort patients to appropriate clinical areas including testing rooms, dilation areas, and exam rooms.

    Perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing including:

    Visual acuity

    Auto-refraction and lensometry

    Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) testing

    OCT (Macula and RNFL)

    Optic disc photography

    Corneal topography

    Pachymetry

    TearLab osmolarity testing

    Lenstar biometry

    External ocular photography

    Additional responsibilities include:

    Scribing during physician exams and documenting patient encounters and physician findings in real time in Nextech EMR

    Reviewing patient charts and entering diagnostic testing and examination results

    Preparing patients and exam rooms for procedures

    Maintaining clean and organized exam rooms and equipment

    Supporting efficient patient flow in a fast-paced clinic

    Qualifications

    Strong multitasking and efficiency in a busy clinical environment

    Ability to take direction and work closely with physicians and senior clinical staff

    Demonstrates initiative and accountability in supporting the practice goals

    Eagerness to learn and grow within ophthalmology

    Strong attention to detail and organization

    Professional communication with patients and staff at all levels

    Education / Experience

    High school diploma or GED required.

    Prior experience in an ophthalmology or optometry clinical setting preferred.

    Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and EMR systems strongly.

    Schedule

    Tuesday through Friday 8:30 AM – approximately 5:00 PM Occasionally later depending on patient flow.

    Monday Flexible based on practice needs.
